I grew up in San Diego Ca in a pretty awesome home. Mom, Pop, sis, and I all used to watch a lot of science fiction and I loved comic books from an early age. We used to watch Ripley's believe it or not, and Guinness World Records with all the heavily modified people like The Enigma, Lizard Man, and Stalking Cat. I actually lived right down the street from Stalking Cat during my early teenage years. So seeing him almost daily and these other people that were using their bodies as the canvas to depict how they see themselves in there own minds eye was very inspiring. There were some other people doing incredible feats like suspending from hooks through their flesh, big holes in their ears, and 3d implants! I felt like I knew where I was headed in life.
Having a passion for body piercing from an early age I started working at a tattoo shop in Mission Beach San Diego when I was about 18 years old. When I turned 23 I started my career as a professional body piercer at a high traffic shop right on the beach. Trying to extend my knowledge I attended the 12th annual convention of The Association of Professional Piercers in Las Vegas Nevada! This was undoubtedly one of the most important things I ever did. After that week in Vegas with almost every important piercer or modification artist in the world, I new that I was in the right place and this is my calling. when I got home it wasn't long before I was on the way to do my first suspension with Dana Dinius in Phoenix AZ. After a 7 hr motorcycle ride in the 107 degree desert heat, a lot of dead zombies at the arcade, I found myself rigged to a tree with 4 big shark hooks in my back. A few deep breathes later i pulled on the rope and lifted myself up. I was in the air! Working full time as an Ironworker and my expertise being rigging I knew that I had to help people learn how to fly. |
